Created by renowned artist and engineer Natalie Jeremijenko, How Stuff Is Made is a visual encyclopedia that documents the social and environmental impacts of producing modern-day products. Both academic and public users participate in the project, thus producing a sense of communal responsibility for manufacturing processes and their effects.
As one of the chief contributors to the project, I collaborated with other members of the San Diego division of xDesign to tweak an open source wiki platform. I provided XHTML/CSS based templates to help build the foundation of the site. Additionally, I created one of the first featured articles that explored the resources needed to provide bottled water to the US.
